1. Program Overview

The Certified Electric Vehicle Technician (CEVT) Training Program is DIYguru's job-oriented, hands-on certification designed to equip individuals with the practical skills necessary to service, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and retrofit electric vehicles. Unlike theory-heavy courses, the CEVT program is built around real-world workshop practice — candidates work on actual EV components and vehicles, gaining the muscle memory and diagnostic instincts that employers demand.

The program follows a structured 3-month format: Month 1–2 (Online) covers EV fundamentals, battery technology, motor systems, charging infrastructure, safety protocols, and retrofitting concepts through live demonstrations, recorded modules, quizzes, and assignments; Month 3 (Offline) is a complete hands-on immersion at DIYguru's Centre of Excellence labs in Pune or Delhi, where candidates work on 2-wheeler, 3-wheeler, and 4-wheeler EV platforms — performing battery pack diagnostics, BMS calibration, motor servicing, controller troubleshooting, charging station operation, EV retrofitting, fault analysis, and safety procedures under the supervision of industry experts.

India's EV market is surging — total EV sales crossed 2.3 million units in 2025 (Vahan Portal / IESA), with electric two-wheelers alone reaching 1.28 million units. But every EV on the road needs trained technicians for service, repair, and battery maintenance. Unlike conventional petrol or diesel vehicles, EVs have lithium-ion batteries, high-voltage systems, and electric drivetrains that demand specialised knowledge. India currently has a massive shortage of EV-trained service technicians — with the EV fleet projected to reach 80 million by 2030, the demand for certified EV technicians is set to explode. The average entry-level salary for EV service technicians is ₹15,000–25,000/month, with experienced technicians earning ₹30,000–50,000/month — and the numbers are rising rapidly as the EV ecosystem matures.

At the end of the program, DIYguru provides 1-week career consultancy sessions and 1-week placement preparation covering CV preparation, interview training, communication skills, career planning in the automobile/EV industry, and internship/placement opportunities through DIYguru and its 300+ partnered industries.

12. Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Who is the CEVT program designed for?

The CEVT program is designed for ITI graduates, diploma holders, automobile mechanics, workshop owners, fresh graduates, and career switchers who want to enter the EV service and repair industry. It's ideal for anyone from a 10th/12th pass mechanic to a B.Tech graduate who wants practical, hands-on EV skills rather than purely theoretical knowledge. No prior EV experience is required.

Q2. How is the 3-month program structured?

The program has three clear phases: Phase 1 (Month 1–2, Online): EV theory, battery technology, motor systems, charging infrastructure, safety protocols, and retrofitting concepts through live demonstrations, recorded modules, quizzes, and assignments. Phase 2 (Month 3, Offline): Complete hands-on practical training at DIYguru COE labs in Pune or Delhi — 20+ sessions working on real 2W/3W/4W EV platforms. Phase 3 (2 Weeks, included): Career consultancy and placement preparation — CV, interviews, communication, career planning.

Q3. Where is the offline training conducted?

The 1-month offline hands-on training is conducted at two locations: Delhi NCR (374, MG Road, Sultanpur, New Delhi — 110030) and Pune (DIYguru COE, ADYPU Campus, Charoli Bk. via Lohegaon, Pune — 412105). You choose your preferred location during enrolment.

Q4. What is the fee and what does it include?

The program fee is ₹20,000. This includes 2 months of online training, 1 month of complete offline hands-on training, a DIY project with mentor guidance, CEVT certification (NEAT AICTE & ASDC recognised), career consultancy sessions, placement preparation, and access to emobility.careers job portal. Internship opportunities are available upon successful project completion.

Q5. Is there placement support?

Yes. The program includes 1-week career consultancy and 1-week placement preparation (CV, mock interviews, communication skills). Additionally, you get access to DIYguru's emobility.careers job portal with listings from 300+ industry partners. Successful project completers also get a 1-month internship opportunity with DIYguru or partner companies. Many graduates secure positions at EV OEM dealerships, service centres, fleet operators, and retrofitting workshops.

Q6. Can I start my own EV service business after this program?

Absolutely. Many CEVT graduates go on to start their own EV service centres, retrofitting workshops, or battery repair businesses. The program covers both the technical skills and the business fundamentals needed. With India's EV fleet growing rapidly and very few certified EV service providers currently available, this is one of the most accessible and high-growth business opportunities in the automotive sector today. DIYguru also provides entrepreneurial support including incubation access, funding guidance, and mentorship for EV business ventures.

Q7. How is this different from DIYguru's Professional Certification or Nanodegree programs?

The CEVT is a technician-level, hands-on program focused on service, repair, maintenance, and retrofitting — it's about working with tools, diagnostics equipment, and real vehicles. The Professional Certification (3 months, ₹18,000) is a self-paced engineering theory program covering the EV technology stack at a conceptual level. The Nanodegree (6 months) is an IIT Jammu collaboration engineering specialisation with live classes, campus immersion, and hardware labs. Choose CEVT if you want to work in EV workshops; choose Professional Certification or Nanodegree if you want engineering-level roles in EV design, development, or R&D.

Q8. Do I need any tools or equipment for the offline training?

No. All tools, equipment, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), EV platforms (2W/3W/4W), battery packs, motors, controllers, chargers, and testing instruments are provided at the COE labs. You only need to bring yourself and your eagerness to learn. Safety gear is mandatory during all hands-on sessions and is provided by DIYguru.
